3 months 3 weeks and 6 days

YAYYYYYYY!!!! They are starting to really feel like dreads now. I still have lots of loose stray hairs, but they have either started sticking to surrounding dreads or forming their own baby dreads with no help from me. Since the novelty has now worn off it is pretty easy not to mess with my hair all the time :)

The few things I do for "maintenance"  (if you can call it that) are:
-salt water rinses between washes to  keep them from getting oily, (since I only wash them with shampoo once a week) and
-using hair wraps and beads to keep the huge bumps and loops down, and to get  loose hairs to connect to specific dreads.  (although I am really lazy about this and will probably have very bumpy dreads)

Altogether I am still really happy about starting this process. I no longer waste any time doing my hair on a daily basis and have completely eliminated the "bad hair day" from my life. Since I don't use any products I can always comb out my dreads if I really really want to BUT I think that this may be my favorite hair style ever and I will probably either have no hair or dreads at any point in my life for the rest of my life :) :) :)

The next step is finding cool beads for my hair since I already have an amazing hat collection...

  1. If your dreads are lumpay, try palmrolling them http://www.dreadheadhq.com/make_dreadlocks_maintain_rolling.php It should help a lot, it also gets those loose hairs :)

  2. too lazy since it doesn't seem to work at all for me. I think it's because there's no product at all in my hair, so there's nothing for the loose hairs to really stick to. I checked out the site, and most of its hints seem directed towards people who use product to speed the process along, but I could be wrong.

I also think it's a lot easier to put a hair wrap or a bead in once a month then it is to palm roll once a week or so.

I'm really not worried about it though because the dreads that were flat last month are starting to round themselves out, and so the ones that are flat now will probably be round next month. :)
